The Big Beautiful Bill passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump ends incentives for the solar industry.
Specifically, it cuts off a 30% solar tax credit for households at the close of 2025. Businesses can still qualify for tax credits for systems installed by 2027 or under construction before July 4, 2026.
The end of the solar tax credit has led to a recent bump in business for Connecticut solar installers, but there is long term concern that the end of the incentives will hurt the industry’s future growth.
The tax credit has been a key driver in reducing the upfront cost of solar, making installations more financially viable for many. Without it, industry leaders warn that demand could drop, potentially slowing the state’s progress toward clean energy goals.
