Fourteen years after Connecticut committed roughly $290 million to lure The Jackson Laboratory to Farmington, the nonprofit has exceeded its hiring targets and expanded its research footprint in the state.

But Connecticut has yet to collect any royalties from the lab’s intellectual property, and only two spinout companies have emerged — one now based in California, the other defunct.
