How should Connecticut handle hyperscale data centers?

No hyperscale data center has been formally proposed in Connecticut, but developers are paying Eversource to study potential sites, and more than 50 such requests have come in over the past two years, about half involving Connecticut locations.

Gov. Ned Lamont says he won't allow the facilities unless developers add their own generation, lawmakers deadlocked on two bills this year, and towns including Morris, West Haven and New Haven are weighing moratoriums.

Eversource's transmission planning chief told HBJ he sees no way other ratepayers would benefit from a hyperscale project.
