What do you do in your current job?

I lead professionals responsible for rate setting, reserving and risk management. I also work on corporate strategy, establish and monitor performance metrics and make recommendations on corrective action plans. I analyze the impact of new or proposed laws and regulations.

Externally, I work to build a strong, robust state health insurance market. I represent ConnectiCare on various boards, such as the Health Reinsurance Association. I work with leaders from the Connecticut Insurance Department, The Office of Health Strategy and the Connecticut Association of Health Plans to help shape policy and support initiatives aimed at improving healthcare access.

What have been your biggest professional accomplishments over the past year?

From a corporate perspective, the largest accomplishment was moving everyone very quickly to a remote environment last March, and finding creative ways to continue business operations, which coincided with a systems transformation project.

On a professional level, I led an effort with Access Health CT and the Health Reinsurance Association to establish a four-week special enrollment period for the uninsured. This led to over 2,200 individuals obtaining needed insurance as the pandemic took hold.

In what ways are you involved in the community?

I sit on a bicycle advisory committee, which promotes cycling and safety. I help run a summer baseball league that just concluded its 75th year of operation. With my actuarial background, I find myself on several finance committees and hold treasurer roles with various local organizations.
