What do you do in your current job?
I advise the CEO and executive leaders on strategic technological threats and opportunities and am responsible for the corporate innovation strategy. I chair the tech council working across the company’s businesses and functions and ensure access to all elements of the global technology ecosystem.
I have helped oversee the incubation of startups, mentor over 30 Stanley+Techstars startups, and engage 30 strategic technology partners at the Industry 4.0 Manufactory. I serve on the Corporate Executive Committee and Corporate Ventures Board. I am also the executive sponsor of the Abilities and Veterans ERGs and Internship Program.
What have been your biggest professional accomplishments over the past year?
Stanley Black & Decker was recognized for the second year as a Top 20 most innovative company in the U.S. based on the American Innovation Index by U.S. consumers.
We received 12 Pro Tool Innovation Awards for hand tools plus six awards for power tools.
The company was recognized by Fast Company as one of the Best Places to Work for Innovators.
Stanley Black & Decker was awarded 608 patents in 2020, and I submitted my first Stanley Black & Decker patent.
The first two STANLEY+Techstars startup cohorts attracted over $20 million in external investment.
Created an AI-powered, global COVID-19 digital dashboard to track and anticipate infections.
In what ways are you involved in the community?
I serve on the Defense Science Board and boards of the Mark Twain House & Museum and Connecticut Science Center. I am a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) and an ice hockey coach for the East Coast Wizards Girls.
