2021 40 Under Forty: Hassan M. Minhas

Chief of Autism Services, Hospital for Special Care

Dr. Hassan Minhas is a psychiatrist with training in adult, pediatric and forensic psychiatry. As the Chief of Autism Services at the Hospital for Special Care, he oversees treatment in a variety of settings.

He has been an integral part of expanding the continuum of care at HFSC, which includes the recent opening of a $13 million inpatient and partial hospital facility, which is an international leader in providing quality care to children with Autism.

Teaches and supervises forensic psychiatry fellows at the Yale School of Medicine, in the Division of Law and Psychiatry.

Established international collaborations, to help service providers develop treatment programs and research methodologies in the mental health field.

What’s been your biggest professional/work accomplishment so far in your career?

The development and expansion of intensive treatment options for children with Autism. There are only a handful of inpatient facilities for children with Autism across the country. With our new service delivery, we are leaders not only regionally, but nationally, with several international collaborations as well.
