Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity is part of a global nonprofit that focuses on increasing homeownership opportunities. It helps build, renovate and preserve homes and accelerates and broadens access to affordable housing.
Employee Benefits: Habitat pays 100% of employees’ health insurance. It also supports attendance at leadership workshops or other formal leadership education, as well as supporting leadership roles within volunteer organizations outside of Habitat.
COVID Response: Habitat encouraged employees to take mental health/paid time off to help work-life balance. In some cases it was mandated; it wasn’t an option.
Employee Recognition: Offers a week-long paid holiday shutdown in December and flexible schedules to support work-life balance.
Fun & Relaxation: Birthdays are acknowledged at each quarterly meeting and at department meetings. Employees receive a birthday card along with a gift card and/or cake at the quarterly meeting.
Healthy Living: On-site personal development and/or stress management workshops, seminars or classes are held. Free yoga classes and mindfulness/meditation sessions are also held.
