What do you do in your current job?
I have the honor and privilege of being the president and CEO of Windsor Federal, an 85-year-old mutual savings association. My job is to keep us focused on our mission of strengthening our communities through sound business partnerships and to make sure we remain committed to our founding values, including being mutually owned by our customers.
And we are proud to be the only mutual institution headquartered in Hartford County. Because we don’t have to worry about satisfying stockholders, I am able to keep the focus on our top priority: Understanding the needs of our communities and serving them.
What have been your biggest professional accomplishments over the past year?
During the pandemic, we provided over $100 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans, protecting over 9,000 local jobs. This was done while much of our staff worked remotely and made a record number of non-PPP loans. Our institution grew 25% and had record earnings. In addition, we renovated 20,000 square feet of office space.
In what ways are you involved in the community?
I am on the Bradley Development League board; Central Connecticut State University School of Business advisory board; and a Rotary member, as well as chair of the American Bankers Association Mutual Institutions Committee, to name a few.
What’s your guiding business principle?
Always try to do the right thing, not the easiest or most profitable thing.
