Following Aetna’s $69-billion merger with Rhode Island-based CVS Health in late 2018, Karen Lynch took over as president of the Hartford-based health insurer.

Lynch, who is also CVS Health’s executive vice president, now stands on the front lines of trying to make work one of the largest healthcare combinations in U.S. history that has promised to reshape the healthcare landscape by pairing a large drug store/pharmacy-benefit manager with the third-largest U.S. health insurer.

During her tenure as head of Aetna she’s put a spotlight on mental health care, launching new “Health Hubs” at CVS locations, growing membership and trying to simplify the healthcare process, drive consumer engagement and improve customer health.
She’s also received numerous accolades during her career, including being named to Fortune’s list of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business for the last four years, and one of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare in 2017.
