Hartford HealthCare’s Information Technology team supports healthcare delivery through digital systems and tools. The team works with clinicians, operational leaders and caregivers to provide technology, integrated health records and other tools used for patient access, communication and care coordination across the system.
What have been the team’s significant contributions to the organization in the past year?
In just six months, we successfully implemented the Epic electronic health record across Hartford HealthCare’s Greater Manchester Region. While early assessments projected a year-long transition, our information technology teams, operational leaders, clinicians and support staff completed the integration in a record-breaking 177 days.
The achievement was powered by extraordinary teamwork and colleague engagement. More than 200 colleagues volunteered during an “Appointment Conversion Weekend,” dedicating their time and expertise to prepare future appointments and help ensure uninterrupted access to care. Together, we delivered a seamless transition for patients, providers and the communities we serve.
What are some major challenges the team had to overcome?
The implementation required teamwork and planning at every level. We redesigned workflows, trained caregivers, migrated scheduling and clinical processes, and coordinated operational readiness across the region. Today, Manchester Memorial Hospital, its Rockville Campus and their care sites are connected to the same digital platform that supports care across Hartford HealthCare.
What’s the team’s next major goal and/or challenge?
Our goal is to build on the successful Epic integration through continued innovation, technology modernization and the expansion of digital capabilities across the Greater Manchester Region. We are committed to enhancing care coordination and delivering a seamless, connected patient experience throughout the Hartford HealthCare system of care.
