As director of planning, design and construction at Connecticut Children’s, Reaghan Schicker leads a dynamic team responsible for space planning, wayfinding, renovations and new construction across the system.
Her leadership has been pivotal in shaping projects that directly enhance patient care, including the award-winning Medical Psychiatric Unit, the Farmington Infusion Center, and most recently, a 190,000-square-foot patient tower that will expand critical services and redefine pediatric care in Connecticut.
What’s been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career?
I led Connecticut Children’s largest expansion — a new eight-story clinical tower delivering 190,000 square feet of patient-centered care and 40,000 square feet of renovations while maintaining uninterrupted hospital operations. Through collaborative delivery and value-driven partnerships, we expanded statewide pediatric access and delivered a guaranteed maximum price within 0.001% of the conceptual estimate.
How are you involved in the community?
I currently serve as Education Committee chair for the New England Healthcare Engineers’ Society as well as VP and state representative for the Connecticut Chapter. I am engaged in Connecticut Foodshare and have volunteered as a soccer coach for varying ages over the past several years with many more to come.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I cherish time with family and friends and the memories created through shared experiences. Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, hiking, golf and soccer. For many years, my husband and I have shared a hobby of building our home together. My greatest joy is watching my two children discover their passions.

Fun Fact
As two architects, my husband and I have been self-performing renovations on an 1840s home.
