Kevin Barros is president of The Computer Co. Inc., where he oversees strategic planning, operations, cybersecurity, compliance, infrastructure, datacenter operations and business development.
He started the company as a sole proprietor and has led its growth through organic expansion and acquisitions completed in 2017 and 2020, growing the organization to approximately 50 employees.
What’s been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career?
I am most proud of building a one-person startup into a 50-employee technology company serving organizations throughout the region. I led two successful acquisitions, expanded our cybersecurity and datacenter capabilities, and guided the company through both SOC 2 Type 2 and CMMC Level 2 certifications.
Most importantly, I have built long-term client relationships and helped organizations grow and operate more effectively through technology.

How are you involved in the community?
I enjoy supporting the local business community through technology education, cybersecurity awareness and compliance guidance. I participate in industry events, speak on technology and security topics, and work closely with organizations to help them address challenges and reduce risk. I also support members of the local Portuguese community by providing business guidance, mentorship and advice to entrepreneurs and business owners.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling and exploring new places. I also enjoy working on cars and learning new skills through hands-on projects. Whether at home or abroad, I appreciate opportunities to experience different cultures, meet new people and continue learning.
Why do you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty?
Spearheaded the acquisition and transformation of a 30,000-square-foot facility, including a datacenter modernization and 0.5 MW solar initiative to support future growth.
Led company efforts to achieve SOC 2 Type 2 compliance and CMMC Level 2 certification, strengthening security, compliance and operational maturity.
Built and mentored a growing team of technology professionals, creating opportunities for career advancement, leadership development and long-term success.
