Carissa Jett is the executive director of Newberry Insurance Group, a large independent insurance agency based out of South Windsor.
She started her insurance career immediately after college as a commercial lines producer. Jett gradually began taking on additional responsibilities including managing the personal lines retention department before working her way up to chief financial officer in 2016. She assumed her current leadership role as executive director in 2025.
What’s been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career?
My biggest accomplishment has been my impact on the financial success of the agency. I have focused on controlling expenses and increasing revenue each year. Our EBITDA has increased consistently even through many challenges in the insurance industry. I am also very proud to have helped build a wonderful team and of all of their hard work, which has contributed greatly to the agency’s growth.
How are you involved in the community?
My family enjoys supporting Kidsafe CT. They are an amazing local organization that helps children and families. We also support Pack Leaders animal rescue who rescued our dog, Autumn, six years ago.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy reading a ridiculous number of books and spending time with my family and two kids. We love traveling and spending as much time outside or on a beach as we can.

The agency has been profitable each year under my leadership.

I enjoy learning about other languages and cultures and studied both French and Spanish in school.
