Lucas Girard serves as director of operations at Mattern Construction Inc., a midsize construction management and general contracting firm. Since starting as a laborer in 2018, Girard has ascended through the ranks, now leading company operations — overseeing project management, estimating and strategic growth.
With his assistance, the firm has doubled its workforce and secured more than $27 million in project revenue, all while strengthening client relationships, improving customer experience and ensuring sustainable, long-term development.
What’s been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career?
My proudest professional accomplishment is guiding Mattern Construction Inc. through a period of expansion, doubling staff and delivering over $27 million in project revenue. We are continuing to grow and improve customer experience every day.

How are you involved in the community?
I’m proud to lead the complete rebuild of a home for a family that tragically lost their house and seven-year-old daughter in a fire. In addition, I serve as the fire captain and volunteer EMT in my town, providing emergency response and department training.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy time outdoors with my family, golf and discovering new coffee shops throughout Connecticut.
Fun Fact: My family turns every coffee run into a mini road trip, exploring towns through lattes.
