Next Level Empowerment Program Presents Community Discussion on Pretrial Justice: The Outcomes Matter

FreeThe Next Level Empowerment Program (NLEP) will hold an important and timely discussion on pretrial justice and its far-reaching impact. The event, titled “Pretrial Justice: The Outcomes Matter,” will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Orchid Café at ConnCAT, located at 4 Science Park in New Haven.
Facilitated by Ray Boyd, author and Director of NLEP, the event will feature a distinguished panel of experts discussing the state of pretrial justice reform and its significance for individuals and impacted communities.
Panelists include:
• Alex Taubes, Leading Civil Rights Attorney, Connecticut
• Diane Lewis, Community Activist
• Abraham Santiago, Community Engagement Organizer
• James Jeter, Full Citizens Coalition
• Judge Glenn A. Grant, Former Acting Director of the NJ Administrative Office of Courts
Before the discussion, Reverend Scott Marks, Director of New Haven Rising, a community organization focused on economic, racial, and social justice, will offer opening remarks. The discussion will explore the critical role of pretrial justice in ensuring fair and equitable treatment within the justice system.
