Three new tenants have taken more than 49,000 square feet of office space on the upper floors of 38-story UnitedHealthcare Center at CityPlace I, downtown Hartford's tallest skyscraper.

Health insurer Aetna's decision to relocate top-level employees to New York City, while maintaining the bulk of its workforce in Hartford, is part of a nationwide management trend in which companies are increasingly separating their corporate executives from the rest of their workforce.

As St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center was underway with its 2015 merger with Michigan's Trinity Health, it faced a C-suite decision of its own.
