Innovation has always been part of Connecticut’s DNA — and today, that spirit is taking new forms.
Across industries — from life sciences and technology to health care and clean energy — entrepreneurs, researchers and changemakers are reimagining what’s possible here.
The state’s R&D activity now accounts for about 2.8% of its gross domestic product, placing it above the national average and reflecting a robust intensity of research, development and innovation.
In addition, Connecticut ranks seventh among states in R&D spending per capita, underscoring the deep investment being made in exploratory innovation and talent.
This year’s third annual “Innovators” issue, published by the Hartford Business Journal, profiles eight individuals from across Connecticut who are changing industries and offering new solutions to long-standing challenges.
Selections were made by Hartford Business Journal’s editorial team, with input from peers across the business community. Together, these profiles offer a snapshot of the energy and imagination fueling Connecticut’s next chapter.
We hope you enjoy exploring their stories and welcome your suggestions for innovators to highlight in the future.
