Zygo Corp. in Middlefield says it has licensed its precision-optics technology to a Japanese company to improve the quality of flat panel displays.
Toho Technology Corp., of Nagoya, Japan, will have the exclusive right to Zygo’s technology. Terms were not disclosed.
Toho sells testing equipment that manufacturers of flat panel displays use to measure product quality.
Zygo CEO Bruce Robinson said the partnership will speed deployment of its technology throughout Asia and boost sales of sensor heads.
Zygo equipment is used to measure and track fine tolerances in the production of semiconductors and other industrial markets.
