Zygo adds CFO post to its search list

Zygo Corp.’s executive revolving door continued to spin Friday, with the announcement that finance chief Walter A. Shephard is leaving the Middlefield maker of microchip measurement equipment at the end of August.

Shephard’s resignation follows the disclosure one week earlier that Zygo’s human resources chief, David J. Person, 61, will retire, effective Sept. 15.

Zygo says Chairman and CEO Chris Koliopoulos, together with board member Robert Taylor, chair of the audit committee, are heading the search for Shephard’s successor. Koliopoulos, an Arizona electronics entrepreneur and college professor, was hired to run the company in January.

Shephard, 56, is also Zygo’s vice president and treasurer.

“After serving Zygo for the past six years, I have made the personal decision to step down to pursue other endeavors,” Shephard said in a company statement. He has agreed to help with his successor’s transition.

Zygo is scheduled to release its fiscal fourth quarter and annual results on Aug. 19.

Zygo makes optical metrology instruments, precision optics, and provides electro-optical design and manufacturing services to the global semiconductor industry.
