The YWCA Hartford Region is asking volunteers for its annual effort to assist low – and moderate taxpayers file their annual income taxes.
No experience is necessary. Volunteer opportunities include tax preparers and greeters.
Tax preparers complete training provided by the Internal Revenue Service. Greeters help taxpayers complete paperwork and make sure they have the necessary documents.
YWCA’s volunteer tax assistance site is housed at the YWCA Hartford offices at 135 Broad St.
In 2014, YWCA said it served 258 area households — resulting in $461,472 in state and federal refunds to working families. Refunds included $152,159 in earned income tax credit and $71,019in child tax credits.
