Connecticut has three colleges named among the top national universities in the United States, including one school in the top five, according to U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” issue released this week.
New Haven-based Yale University had the highest ranking of any Connecticut college, ranked third ahead of schools like Columbia, Stanford, and the University of Pennsylvania.
The University of Connecticut was ranked 69th on the list, while the University of Hartford was ranked 183rd.
According to the report, Yale’s 2009 enrollment was 11,593 students and its tuition and fees came in at about $38,300. Meanwhile UConn had 25,020 students enrolled in 2009, with in-state tuition pegged at $10,416 and out-of-state tuition equal to $26,880.
Finally, The University of Hartford’s attendance totaled 7,212 students with tuition and fees totaling $29,852.
Harvard and Princeton were the top ranked U.S. schools, according to the report.
