Yale New Haven Hospital was ranked No. 1 among Connecticut hospitals in the latest U.S. News & World Report list of “America’s Best Hospitals,” with Hartford Hospital ranking No. 2 in the state.
St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Greenwich Hospital tied for the No. 3 spot, and Danbury, Middlesex and Stamford hospitals tied for No. 5.
U.S. News also ranked Yale nationally in nine specialties, psychiatry, No. 11; geriatrics, No. 15; pulmonology, No. 19; ear, nose and throat, No. 22; neurology and neurosurgery, No. 28; urology, No. 29; diabetes and endocrinology, No. 29; gastroenterology, No. 33; and kidney disorders, No. 31.
No other Connecticut hospitals ranked nationally in specialties, but they did receive high-performing ratings in various procedures/conditions, with Hartford Hospital, St. Francis and Greenwich rating high performing in five procedures/conditions; Danbury and Middlesex in three each; and Stamford in two. Yale New Haven also ranked high performing in eight procedures/conditions.
