Bermuda insurer-reinsuer XL Group PLC, with operations in Hartford, named insurance-finance veteran Peter R. Porrino as its chief financial officer.
Porrino will join the company in late August with the additional title of executive vice president.
He has more than 30 years of experience working in and advising the insurance industry, including considerable property and casualty insurance and reinsurance experience, XL said.
He will report to XL’s CEO Mike McGavick, and will serve on XL’s leadership team.
Since 1999, Porrino has served as Ernst & Young’s global insurance industry leader. A CPA, he first joined Ernst & Young in 1978 serving in the firm’s New York and national insurance practices for 15 years before leaving to hold senior management posts with several insurance companies.
Those include Zurich Financial Services, where Porrino was CFO of Zurich Reinsurance Centre Inc. Â He rejoined Ernst in 1999.
Porrino holds an MBA from New York University and BBA in accounting from Pace University.
