Xerox unit lands $14M CT IT contract

The information-technology division of Norwalk’s Xerox Inc. won a six-year $14 million Connecticut contract to install a secure portal for law enforcement officials paperless access to the state’s criminal justice database, authorities say.

ACS announced Wednesday it will design and build the portal that police, judges and others will use to electronically access and exchange criminal and court records using a centralized statewide system.

It will be one of the most advanced tools of its kind in the country, making data available from hundreds of sources in the state to thousands of authorized users, ACS said.

Initially, the system will enable 50,000 users to share text, analytics, business intelligence, dashboards, video, graphics and audio, and improve access to reports, ACS said. Over time, it is expected to expand to 75,000 users.

To ensure the state can quickly benefit from improvements to public safety and reduced costs, ACS said it is designing the system to go live in stages.
