Wright-Pierce office redo

Environmental engineering firm Wright-Pierce has expanded its downtown Middletown offices to 8,150 square feet.

The 3,200-square-foot expansion at 169 Main St. added work spaces, a new reception area, and a custom-designed spiral staircase that now connects the two-story office space it first leased 14 years ago.

The employee-owned firm says it expects to expand its 23-person staff to support its growing New England client base. The company recently named John W. Braccio as its new president and CEO. He replaced William E. Brown, who had been with the firm for 35 years.

Wright-Pierce is working with neighboring municipalities on water-facilities upgrades, including the $100 million Mattabassett project in Cromwell set for completion in 2015.
