World Wresting Entertainment in Stamford named senior executive Basil V. DeVito Jr. to its board of directors.
DeVito, with WWE for 25 years, since 2003 has been a senior advisor responsible for getting WWE on air in North America.
He joined the company in 1985, creating WWE’s first marketing group. He later managed several WWE departments, and was its chief operating officer from January 1997 through June 1998. DeVito also was president of the WWE’s former XFL professional football league.
