A Cromwell office formerly owned by Massachusetts energy software provider World Energy Solutions will live on, after being re-acquired by its original founders.
Last week, Rick Galipeau and Mike Santangelo bought back from World Energy Solutions the business they had sold to the company in 2011. The sale price was not disclosed.
Galipeau and Santangelo were both vice presidents with World Energy Solutions, which was sold in January to Boston-based Eneroc for $77 million.
Now they will be president and vice president, respectively, of World Energy Efficiency Solutions.
The business will remain headquartered in Worcester, Mass., and will keep the Cromwell office where the business was originally founded with the name Northeast Energy Solutions, Galipeau said Tuesday.
“It’s grown, but we’re buying back the same group,” Galipeau said.
Northeast Energy Solutions had four employees when it was sold four years ago. Now, World Energy Efficiency Solutions has 21 employees, with 11 in Cromwell.
The business offers energy audits and conservation solutions to commercial and industrial customers. Since 2012, it has been a preferred provider for Eversource in Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as for several other utilities.
