World energy auction a state success

The state of Connecticut has completed its first successful energy auction that is expected to save the state $18 million during the 20-month contract period. The auction was conducted through the Web-based World Energy Exchange, operated by Massachusetts-based World Energy Solutions. Through the auction, the state awarded contracts that will supply more than 505 million kilowatt hours per year and significantly increase the amount of renewable energy available.
