Workforce Solutions receives mfg. grant

Workforce Solutions Collaborative of Metro Hartford received a $35,400 grant from the National Fund for Workforce Solutions and Boeing Co. to provide job training to manufacturing workers.

The collaborative invests in employer-driven partnerships to advance the careers of low-income workers.

Workforce Solutions has a manufacturing partnership with Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. in East Hartford. CCAT is a nonprofit organization that serves employers by helping them innovate and compete in the global market.

CCAT will use the award money to invite new employers, including Boeing vendors, into its advance manufacturing advisory partnership and to expand their subsidized employment program.

The program targets small-to-midsize manufacturers and will cover 12 weeks of employee wages, benefits, supervision and training costs for 10 unemployed workers.
