State Treasurer Shawn T. Wooden has named Edward βTedβ Wright β a former investment principal for the Los Angeles County employee retirement fund β as the new chief investment officer of Connecticutβs public employee pension and trust funds.
Wright, who was selected after a nationwide search, will assume day-to-day management of the Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds, which has assets valued at over $40 billion, and serve as an advisor to Wooden. The CRPTF, which consists of six state pension funds and nine state trust funds, controls investments for approximately 212,000 state and municipal employees, teachers, retirees and survivorships, as well as funds that support academic programs and grants.
Wrightβs first day is scheduled for Aug. 23.
Since 2015, Wright has served as principal investment officer and head of global equity at the $70 billion Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association.
Prior to that role, Wright worked as a portfolio manager at LJH Global Investments, as portfolio manager and head of global equity at Oppenheimer Funds and as global head of portfolio management at Genworth Financial Asset Management, where he was responsible for $10 billion in assets.
