Wood-n-Tap expands outside CT with new Springfield location

The newest location of Hartford-based chain Wood-n-Tap will be located in Massachusetts.

Wood-n-Tap, which offers casual American dining, is set to open a restaurant in west Springfield next month – the first outside of the Nutmeg State. It’s located at 955 Riverdale St., in a renovated space that previously housed Carrabba’s Italian Grill.

The new restaurant has a backlit wall made of barrel staves, a state-of-the-art kitchen and a private dining room for 50 people, a spokeswoman for the company said. There is also a 60-foot long bar.

Large glass bifold doors at one end of the dining room can be folded open to give the feeling of dining “al fresco.”

A fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of West Springfield will coincide with the grand opening on March 4.

Wood-n-Tap’s other locations are in Enfield, Hamden, Newington, Southington, Wallingford, Farmington, Hartford, Rocky Hill and Vernon.

Wood-n-Tap is owned by Hartford Restaurant Group, founded by Phil Barnett and Mike Hamlin, who opened their first restaurant on Sisson Avenue in Hartford in 2002.

Barnett and Hamlin were named the 2022 Restaurateurs of the Year by the Connecticut Restaurant Association.

In July 2022, the Hartford Business Journal reported that the owners purchased a half-acre property near the Wood-n-Tap at 1593 Farmington Ave. to be used for future commercial development.
