Women-owned therapy practice expands in Shelton

The Speech Pathology Group and Rehab Services of CT has a new, larger home in Shelton.

The women-owned private practice, which opened in 2015 at Beard Sawmill Road in Shelton, moved down the road Aug. 1 to 10 Progress Dr., Suite 2B, to accommodate its growing practice.

The relocation has allowed the team to expand to a newly-updated 5,000-square-foot office.

The business previously had six therapy rooms. The larger space has more than 13 therapy rooms for speech, occupational and physical therapy, as well as Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA.

The new space has a much larger waiting room with more seating and a reading nook for children. The move has also allowed the entire administrative team to return to the office.

Construction to an indoor aquatic therapy pool in-house is underway and expected to be ready by year’s end. In the past, the practice rented pool space in nearby hotels to conduct aquatic therapy.

Owner Rachel Criscuolo, a speech language pathologist, is excited to welcome current and new clients to the expanded practice.

“Our practice has been steadily growing over the past years with the addition of OT, PT and ABA services,” Criscuolo said.  “The old space was great when we were only offering speech, but as our clients’ needs grew, expansion was necessary for us all.  We are thrilled that we were able to relocate within Shelton and keep the move as close as possible for our families and staff.”

Criscuolo added that the previous location only allowed enough space for the current staff and clients. That has since changed with the move to the larger space. The business is now accepting new clients, as well as adding new programs.

The business is finalizing plans for a full day kindergarten readiness program that is expected to be running by early September. It recently added transgender voice individualized and group sessions.

The Shelton office employs about 50 employees and is currently seeking to hire several more therapists to accommodate its growing client base. The business also has an office in Southbury.
