Wolf Pack face off against rival Thunderbirds Friday night; first playoff game at XL Center since 2015

The Hartford Wolf Pack will play their first playoff game at the XL Center since 2015 Friday night against the Springfield (Massachusetts) Thunderbirds.

The game starts at 7:05 p.m. and tickets are available at www.hartfordwolfpack.com.

The Wolf Pack won their first game of the best-of-three playoff series in a 6-1 victory Wednesday night. A win on Friday would mean the Wolf Pack advance to the second round.

It’s the first time since 2015 that the Wolf Pack has made the playoffs. The team enjoyed an eight-game winning streak at the end of the regular season, which was broken by Springrield in the final game on April 15, when Springfield delivered a 1-0 loss to the Wolf Pack.

Overall, the Wolf Pack’s regular season record against Springfield was 3-7-0-2.

But the Wolf Pack have seen recent momentum, with a roster of up-and-coming prospects and enthusiastic crowds that have regularly exceeded 5,000 people at home games.

As of Friday morning, the Wolf Pack had sold more than 5,000 tickets for Friday night’s match – a solid number considering tickets just went on sale Monday. Many more tickets are expected to be sold in the walk-up to the game.

As an added incentive, vendors will be selling $2 beers and $1 hot dogs at the XL Center until the end of the first intermission.

The third game of the series, if necessary, will be in Springfield on Saturday night.
