In anticipation of increased ridership this week, the Hartford Line is adding more trains to its schedule ahead of and after Thanksgiving, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Department officials said two northbound and two southbound CTrail trains will be added to the Hartford Line schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 23, and Wednesday, Nov. 24. On Sunday, Nov. 28, three northbound and three southbound CTrail trains will be added to the schedule.
Metro-North Railroad will also operate special trains on the New Haven Line on Thursday, Nov. 25. It will operate on a modified schedule on Friday, Nov. 26.
Additional cars are also being added to Shore Line East trains, which run from New London to New Haven.
Wednesday is expected to be the busiest rail travel day in Connecticut since the COVID-19 pandemic reached the state in March 2020.
