The Hartford area is home to nearly half the more than two dozen Connecticut restaurants and wine bars recognized by a magazine popular with oenophiles.
The Wine Spectator announced Thursday its 2015 Award of Excellence to 2,563 U.S. food/drink establishments.
On the list of Connecticut honorees are 13 Hartford area establishments: Max A Mia, Avon; Max Amore, Max Fish and 2Hopewell, all in Glastonbury; The Capital Grille, Max Downtown and Vivo Seasonal Trattoria, all in downtown Hartford; Firebox, Hartford; Esca Restaurant & Wine Bar, Middletown; Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Newington; Cava Restaurant, Southington; Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar and Max’s Oyster Bar, West Hartford.
The Connecticut rest are: Barcelona Wine Bar, Norwalk; Bernard’s, Ridgefield; The Capital Grille, Stamford; Da Pietro’s, Westport; David Burke Prime Steakhouse, Ledyard; Fife ‘N Drum Restaurant & Inn, Kent; Gabriele’s Italian Steakhouse, L’Escale’s and Morello Italian Bistro, Greenwich; Go Fish Restaurant, Mystic; Goodfellas Restaurant, New Haven; The Griswold Inn Wine Bar, Essex; Kensington’s, Norwich; Michael Jordan’s Steak House (inside Mohegan Sun Casino), Uncasville; and Octagon, Groton.
