Windsor’s TRC secures second Penn. deal

Windsor’s TRC Cos., a national engineering, environmental consulting and construction manager, said it has inked its second Pennsylvania acquisition in less than a month.

TRC announced this week that it has purchased Shoener Environmental, a firm located just outside Scranton that consults on the development and permitting of renewable energy and greenfield development projects. Shoener also has locations in California and Colorado and serves clients across the country, according to TRC.

“The acquisition of Shoener strengthens TRC’s robust, integrated renewable energy solutions and expertise in ecological systems nationally. This acquisition comes in parallel with our recent acquisition of 1Source Safety & Health, and aligns with TRC’s overall growth strategy.”

The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, brings approximately 20 environmental consulting and engineering experts to TRC, which says it has worked with its clients on nearly 1,000 solar, wind, and other renewable energy projects this year alone.

“This acquisition is a strong fit for TRC’s continued growth strategy,” Mark Robbins, president of the company’s environmental sector, said in a statement. “TRC is uniquely positioned to provide end-to-end services for renewable energy projects, and the addition of Shoener’s experience and geographic footprint makes that distinction even stronger.”

The purchase follows close on the heels of TRC’s November acquisition of environmental health and safety consultancy 1Source Safety and Health, a firm based 130 miles south of Shoener near Philadelphia that focuses on building sciences and industrial hygiene for clients in numerous sectors.
