Windsor’s ING tops CT’s best LGBT employers

ING U.S. in Windsor leads a 2012 ranking of a half dozen Connecticut companies that are the best workplaces for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.

Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for the sixth straight year gave ING a perfect score of 100 percent for its workplace, compensation and benefits policies covering LGBT employees.

“This survey helps us to annually review our LGBT workplace policies, ensuring we continue to improve how we maintain an inclusive workplace environment, which is critical for our business success,” ING Insurance U.S. President Rob Leary said in a statement.

The CEI says it rates U.S. companies on 40 specific policies and practices. To achieve a perfect score, companies must have fully inclusive equal employment opportunity policies, provide equal employment benefits, demonstrate organizational LGBT competency, evidence their commitment to equality publicly and exercise responsible citizenship.
