Windsor technology company buys a new home in Enfield for $1.1M

Window and door distributor Marvin has sold one of its Enfield flex office buildings and has a second, neighboring, building up for sale.

Marvin moved its Cortland, New York, operation to Enfield in 2019 after buying A.W. Hastings, which was a distributor of Marvin products based in Enfield. At the time, Marvin touted the move as a means to streamline Northeast operations.

Now, Marvin has decided to give up two Enfield buildings as staff prefer to work from home, according to a broker handling the sales.
Marvin sold a 14,241-square-foot, 21-year-old office building on a 1.7-acre property at 270 George Washington Road in a $1.1 million deal logged April 19, according to town records.

The building had been on the market for about a week, said David P. Murdock, director of industrial properties for Sentry Commercial, who brokered the sale.

Murdock described the building as a “flex” building, as it includes about 3,500 square feet of warehouse space.

The building was sold to a limited liability company that traces back to Windsor-based Nutmeg Technologies. Murdock said he has helped Nutmeg search for a larger building in which to grow for about a year.

The company had looked at a handful of buildings during that time. When Marvin’s building came up for sale, Murdock knew it would suit the computer technology company.

“It just fit perfectly for what they needed to do,” Murdock said. “It went under contract within a week of it hitting the market.”

Murdock is now marketing Nutmeg Technologies’ 6,908-square-foot office building in Windsor, which is listed at $695,000.

Attempts to reach Lisa Smith, CEO and president of Nutmeg Technologies, were not immediately successful Tuesday.

Murdock is also seeking a buyer for Marvin’s second Enfield building, a 25,519-square-foot flex facility with about 4,700 square feet of high-bay warehouse and 20,000 square feet of office space on 1.7 acres at 2 Pearson Way.

That building is up for $1.7 million.
