Windsor Locks vendor faces state tax charges

The owner of a Windsor Locks gas station faces fines and jail time for failing to file state sales and withholding tax returns with revenue collectors, authorities said Friday.

Meena F. Valand, of Windsor Locks, owner of MFV Enterprises Windsor Locks LLC, was arrested on 18 counts of failing to comply with filing regulations, the state Department of Revenue Services said.

Valand is free on a $5,000 non-surety bond pending her next appearance March 23 in Hartford Superior Court, the agency said.

She faces a maximum one year in jail and a maximum $1,000 fine for each count.

Attempts to locate Valand for comment were unsuccessful.
