Windham Hospital CEO Richard A. Brvenik is leaving later this summer to take the chief executive job at a North Carolina hospital. His last day is Aug. 31.
Brvenik, who is also a senior vice president of Hartford Healthcare, Windham’s parent, has been named CEO of Carteret General Hospital, a 135-bed institution in Morehead City. Brvenik’s new post begins in September.
Meantime, Hartford Healthcare has launched a search for Brvenik’s replacement, said Windham Hospital spokesman Shawn Maynard.
A decision will be made “sometime soon,” Maynard said.
In addition to Windham Hospital, Hartford Healthcare operates Hartford Hospital, MidState Medical Center in Meriden, The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, and other health care companies.
Windham Hospital’s next CEO will likely come from one of those institutions, Maynard said.
