Encouraged by what it says is a growing lobbying practice, national law firm Wilson Elser has opened a downtown office.
The expansion gives the firm a greater presence in proximity to insurance and other clients, it said.
The office at 100 Pearl St. is the firm’s second in Connecticut and 25th in the country. It opened a Stamford office in 2004, where it has approximately 20 attorneys.
David Rose, a partner who heads Wilson’s government affairs practice, has made Hartford his primary office, a spokeswoman said, and the office will also initially be staffed by some of the firm’s Stamford attorneys. The firm is interviewing to hire other lawyers in Hartford.
Rose served as senior counsel to two former Connecticut House speakers — Moira Lyons from 2002 to 2004 James Amann from 2004 to 2007.
