Shelton-based William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage and Insurance announced that it has acquired a family-owned brokerage firm based in Amherst, Massachusetts.
William Raveis said it is expanding its western Massachusetts footprint with the acquisition of Jones Group Realtors, which was founded in 1958 and serves communities on the western edge of Massachusetts and the Berkshires.
“Our alliance with one of the most respected firms in the Pioneer Valley is a big step forward in our expansion plan,” said Chris Raveis, president of residential sales for William Raveis Inc.
The Pioneer Valley, a popular year-round tourist destination, is home to Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
William Raveis, a privately owned company, also recently expanded to South Carolina.
