Wiggin and Dana has launched a new cannabis practice group, joining a growing list of Connecticut law firms adding a focus on the state’s emerging legal marijuana industry.
Wiggin and Dana, a national law firm with local offices in New Haven, announced this week that Corporate Department Partner Jack H. Sousa will chair the law firm’s new six-attorney cannabis practice group. Other members include partners John Doroghazi and James Greifzu and senior counsel Bob Langer.
The new practice will offer clients services related to corporate transactions, dispute resolution and litigation, intellectual property, labor and employment, licensing, real estate, and regulatory compliance, the firm said.
Wiggin and Dana said it already has been involved with the cannabis industry, having represented several Connecticut medical marijuana dispensaries in acquiring their licenses. It was also involved with a Connecticut-based cultivator’s sale to another company.
The firm said it has also represented Connecticut-based cannabis companies in commercial real estate transactions, and helped a social equity applicant obtain both cultivation and retail licenses.
