Hartford’s Whittlesey & Hadley said it has acquired a fellow CPA firm in Western Massachusetts, adding 21 CPAs and accountants and four support staff to its employee roster.
Going forward, Lester Halpern & Co., based in Holyoke, will assume the Whittlesey name. The deal grows Whittlesey’s total number of accountants and CPAs to 101.
Drew Andrews, Whittlesey’s managing partner, said the deal is the “first step in an aggressive plan to grow out services and staff throughout the northeast.”
Thomas Terry, Lester’s managing partner, will remain with the firm as a partner in the Holyoke office, Whittlesey said.
Terms of the transaction, which takes effect Aug. 1, were not disclosed.
