Plainville-based Wheeler has named Dr. Alkesh N. Patel as medical director of addiction services, a new position for the agency.
Prior to joining Wheeler, Patel held key clinical and administrative leadership positions in addiction medicine. He is a fellowship-trained, academic addiction psychiatrist who completed the addiction psychiatry training program at the Icahn School of Medicine, the primary affiliated medical school for the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. He served as director of mental health services for the comprehensive health program at Mount Sinai Hospital, helping individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
