WFSB-TV, Channel 3, and longtime Eyewitness News anchor and Face the State moderator Dennis House have mutually agreed to part ways.
WFSB and House announced the split in a joint statement late Tuesday.
“On behalf of all of us at WFSB, we want to thank Dennis for his decades of service to the people of Connecticut and wish him luck in his future endeavors,” Dana Neves, vice president and general manager of WFSB said in a statement.
“Dennis has a passion for news and politics, telling thousands of wonderful stories from here in Connecticut and around the world over the years,” she continued.
House in a statement said he was “grateful” to “have served the great state of Connecticut as a journalist for 28 years at WFSB.”
“The station has meant so much more to me than just a job. I’ve grown up here. The people who work here are my family,” he said. “I just hope my next chapter is as rewarding as this past one.”
House, a native of Norwood, Mass., first joined the Rocky Hill-based CBS-affiliated television station in 1992 and has become a mainstay in Connecticut’s media landscape as a co-anchor of the station’s flagship Eyewitness News program at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
House is also known for interviewing political and municipal leaders, among other area officials, on WFSB’s Sunday morning political show, Face the State.
According to WFSB’s website, his professional broadcasting career started at WPRI-TV in Providence, R.I., before he moved on to other news jobs at WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H., and WREX-TV in Rockford, Ill. House also served as an anchor and reporter at WWMT-TV in Grand Rapids, Mich.
House’s departure is the second notable loss for the Eyewitness News desk in the last year.
Last December, WFSB announced that House’s longtime Eyewitness News co-anchor, Denise D’Ascenzo, died unexpectedly at the age of 61.
