Under the proposal, the current structure will be demolished and replaced with three mid-rise multifamily residential buildings.
Wethersfield’s Planning & Zoning Commission has approved a site plan to tear down a long-vacant nursing home and replace it with a 160-unit apartment complex on Jordan Lane.
At its Dec. 2 meeting, the commission signed off on a site plan submitted by 341 Jordan Development LLC to redevelop 341 Jordan Lane, a 10.76-acre property at the southwest corner of Jordan Lane and Folly Brook Boulevard. The existing building, constructed in 1965 and formerly used as a nursing and rehabilitation center, has been vacant for years.
341 Jordan Development LLC is controlled by Joseph Calafiore, founder of Hartford-based Alca Construction Co. Inc. and a co-owner of the Hartford Athletic soccer team.
Under the proposal, the current structure will be demolished and replaced with three mid-rise multifamily residential buildings, 240 parking spaces, landscaped open space and resident amenities, including a walking trail and recreational areas, according to application materials.
In total, the project will include 160 apartments.
The site plan approval follows a July vote by the commission to rezone the property to a Special Residential Development District and adopt a master plan for the site.
With site plan approval now in hand, the developer can move forward with permitting and pre-construction work.
