A Wethersfield farm is seeking town approval to expand its business model by hosting events including live music performances, photo shoots and other gatherings.
The Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday is scheduled to consider an application from 7 Acres Farm U-Pick (Morgan Dodge), at 100 Great Plain Lane, for a special permit to allow multiple uses tied to its existing seasonal agricultural operation, which includes the cultivation of specialty cut flowers.
The application proposes adding agritourism activities such as vendor fairs, small-scale live music performances, food trucks and special ticketed events. The activities are intended to complement the primary use of the property, the application said.
The farm may also offer small workshops, educational programs, photography sessions or seasonal markets, it said.
If approved, the move would allow the farm to broaden revenue streams beyond traditional seasonal agricultural activity, reflecting a trend among some farms to add agritourism and event-based offerings.
The application is scheduled for review at the commission’s 7 p.m. meeting at Town Hall.
