Westport’s Planning and Zoning Commission has denied a major proposal by Roan Development Ventures to build a mixed-use, residential-retail development called Hamlet at Saugatuck.
The development, which would have been on a 3.38-acre parcel on the Saugatuck River, would have featured 57 hotel rooms, 57 residential units and commercial space, according to an application filed with the commission.
The residences would have been contained in five, five-story buildings totaling 185,813 square feet of space. The hotel rooms would have been housed in three five-story buildings totaling 90,741 square feet, the application stated.
In total, the development would have consisted of 10 buildings that would have also housed commercial space across 315,735 square feet of space. It would have had 258 parking spaces.
The commission
began reviewing the project in March.
Calls to Roan or the Planning and Zoning Department were not immediately returned.
