The town of Westport kicked off Connecticut’s newest pilot program to encourage residential solar installations throughout the state.
Westport, Fairfield, Portland, and Durham are the test towns for the new Solarize Connecticut effort, encouraging the adoption of residential solar electric systems through coordinated town education, marketing, and outreach efforts.
The pilot is a joint effort of the state Clean Energy Finance & Investment Authority, the John Merck Fund and the non-profit organization SmartPower.
The program offers specialty discounted pricing through select solar installation companies, as well as education on the benefits of solar electric and solar hot water. Stratford-based Encon Solar is the designated installer for Solarize Westport.
